Accounting and Information Management? What is it?

Hello. I want to major in Accounting and was planning to transfer to the University of Texas at Dallas and get a bachelor’s in Accounting there.
However, I visited their website and all I found was this weird “Accounting and Information Management.” Is it just a different name? Or is it NOT an original Accounting degree (example, a degree mixed with a large amount of undesirable/worthless courses)?
I visited the AACSB website and the school appears to be accredited.

Here are the degree course requirements and descriptions:
[Accounting and Information Management - School of Management - 2009 UT Dallas Undergraduate Catalog Supplement](<a href=“UT Dallas Course Catalogs - UT Dallas University Catalogs - The University of Texas at Dallas”>UT Dallas Course Catalogs - UT Dallas University Catalogs - The University of Texas at Dallas)
[AIM Accounting and Information Management - 2008-2010 UT Dallas Undergraduate Catalog - Course Descriptions](<a href=“UT Dallas Course Catalogs - UT Dallas University Catalogs - The University of Texas at Dallas”>UT Dallas Course Catalogs - UT Dallas University Catalogs - The University of Texas at Dallas)

Please tell me if it’s a genuine ‘Accounting’ degree. I need to apply soon to transfer to a 4-year university and this is the only school I had in mind. After acquiring my undergraduate in accounting I plan to get the Master in Professional Accounting (MPA) from UT Austin (McCombs) and become a CPA.

Thank you for your guidance.

It sounds like a combination of accounting and information systems…but looking at the course catalogs, it looks like a regular accounting program (but then again, I’m “translating” the course descriptions into what they would be at A&M, so I guess UT does some things differently). So I would say it’s just their accounting program.

It should be suitable for getting into the MPA program, so I’d go for it (unless someone from UT can say something different…)
