Accounting for spending

Hi everyone. :)
I'm going to start my first year of college in the fall, and I've qualified for a Pell grant. I'm wondering if I need to save receipts to account for the spending of it? It seems like there would be a lot of potential for abuse if one did not have to account for it, but I've not read anywhere that you have to. I just want to clear it up for my own peace of mind. Thank you!

Technically, one doesn'thave to keep a record of how the funds are spent, especially since the Pell grant is sent directly to the school and typically isn't even enough to cover 25% of the tuition costs. I've received a Pell Grant for the last 4 years and haven't kept up with my expenses...and I work in financial aid, where no one has ever said it was necessary, even at Dept of Education training seminars.

That certainly clears things up. Thanks a lot for the quick answer :)
