a lot of people suggested doing an activity sheet like that but it also isn’t concise and very wordy. is it a good idea to make a sheet like that? would admission officers even have time to read it? I doubt that those sheets would fit on 3 pages…

It doesn’t have to be very wordy. I think colleges just want a general idea of the activities you do, so making a separate sheet is totally unnecessary. If they wanted more in-depth explanation, they wouldn’t accept the EC chart that they do. If you do a sheet, make your explanation 2 sentences at most. I did do a sheet, and I put it landscape style, so more fit, and I used a smaller font. But I really didn’t need to. I don’t think making the sheet actually helped at all.

I spent a lot of time thinking about/researching this last year. It seems like colleges just have way too much material to go thru already and are loathe add on even more. I sensed from some an actual negative in submitting more (this from Stanford and UVA in particular who I believe just throw out anything extra). Perhaps as in, if you aren’t smart enough to figure out how to adequately describe yourself throughout these pages, then that’s a problem.

Have you heard the expression that shorter is harder? It’s true. I work with analysts and those who have been assigned project and turn in a bunch of material they have cut and pasted “just in case” are not doing their jobs–they need to tell me what’s important–I don’t want to spend my time wading thru a bunch of material. Maybe this would be helpful, list everything you do, describe it all out to your hearts content…then keep condesing and combining til the info will fit into the activity pages or as part of a short answer. You can do it–good luck.
