Ack, I'm New! And quite lost with this College Planning!

Well, As a little box is telling me, I have never posted. And I guessed that this was the most appropriate (possibly?) forum to post this.
Well, here I go…

I am a High school Junior, just getting ready for applying during the summer/ fall for colleges. However, my parents were geniuses, and I’m… not at their level. Their idea of a normal college is Columbia, Cornell… get my drift?

My stats:
SAT: CR 670 M 680 W 660 (Total: 2010)
SAT II: Biology 730
Class Rank: 45/ 536
GPA: Cumulative (Freshman+ Sophomore years), unweighted: 3.625/4.000.
Currently: ~3.8
Classes: All Honors. AP English. Next year: AP Calc BC, AP Psych and AP Physics E/M.
Ethnicity: Asian
Gender: Female
Clubs: National Honors Society, Science National Honors Society, (Possible Business National Honors Society), Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), Reading Olympics (Junior Year), Gay Straight Alliance (Junior Year).
Awards:
(FBLA)
Intro to Business (Regionals: 2nd, went to States Leadership Conference)
Business Law (Regionals: 2nd, went to SLC)
Cyber Security (Regionals, 3rd, going to SLC next week)
10th place Hospitality Management (Or something like that…) in SLC
2nd place Leadership in SLC
Sports: NONE

… well…I think that’s all. I’m looking at a career in Engineering or Business, and a college that would accept me. Thinking of applying to Drexel, Cornell, and Carnegie Mellon.
Got any suggestions?

… Oh, And I’m going to retake the SAT in a few weeks, and take SAT II in Math II and Physics.

Suggestions:
1 - think about whether you want to be one of the elite at your college or one of the gang, then use the middel 50% SAT scores as an initial screening tool to look at colleges
2- think about whether you want big/small; urban/rural; close to home/far away; co-op focused or academically focused, and add those findings to the screen
3- think about what kind of social scene you want (e.g., frat oriented or not; lots of sports or not; nerdy/geeky or not) and add those to the screening process
4- think about finances, whether you will need merit aid in addition to any need-based aid; if so , include schools that give alot of merit aid

The point I’m getting at is to not look at specific schools right now, but think about the qualities you want in a school ,and let that screening process select places for you; who knows, you may end up at a school that isn’t on your radar screen (like U Rochester?)

Good luck, and enjoy the sorting process!!!

Thank you!
=)
This actually helps a lot!
