So I was going through my files doing some spring cleaning today, and I came across a copy of my Duke supplement…and…much to my surprise, all those hours of proofreading it apparently didn’t pay off…on the space where I put my senior year schedule it should read:
AP Music Theory
AP English Lit.
AP Statistics
AP Biology
AP Psychology
Honors Band IV
However, the supplement I submitted reads this:
AP Music Theory
AP English Lit.
AP Statistics
AP Biology
AP Psychology
Honors LATIN IV

What happened was I was originally planning to take both Latin and Band, however, due to a scheduling conflict, it had to be one or the other and I chose band. I started my Duke application over the summer, before the scheduling issue arose, and I guess when I went back to edit my supplement I accidentally deleted band instead of Latin. I’m planning on calling the Duke admissions office tomorrow morning to make the change (though it may have already been made, I remember my guidance counselor saying something about being on the phone with the Duke admissions office a few weeks ago). It says on my transcript and all the other forms that I turned in to Duke (including rec forms) that I am in band this year. So best case scenario: they realize it was an honest, albeit careless mistake and hopefully don’t count it against me…worst case scenario: they think I’m trying to be dishonest on my application and reject me. So, the culmination of my paranoia that I believe to have been inherited from my asian mother, and the million dollar question: will this have an effect on my admissions decision? If so, how?
