I got a postcard from Bucknell about this, and I’ve seen it on their website…it looks interesting, but before I go ahead and apply and potentially miss two days of school, I was curious if anyone on CC had been to it and what your opinions of it are. Thanks!

I also got the letter and am thinking of applying but would love some insight if it’s worth it.

I got the same post card. I would also like to know how selective it is.

I applied and looked at the schedule. All of Friday is an open house and then Saturday until 3 is the conference so it’s more time doing the open house.

Hi, I participated in this program last year as a senior in high school. The topic of the conference changes from year to year, however, (ours was the economy) so I don’t know how similar this year’s program will be to the one in which I participated. I just skimmed through a description of this year’s topic on Bucknell’s website, however, and it looks very interesting!

I think that this program is very worthwhile, especially if you are considering applying to Bucknell in the fall. First of all, the admissions staff looks very favorably upon students who have participated in the program; it shows definitively more interest in the school than a campus tour could. Second of all, should you choose to come to Bucknell next year, you will undoubtedly recognize a few friendly faces from the conference a year earlier!

The program features an ice cream social, a banquet dinner, opportunities for interaction with Bucknell professors, and the chance to spend the night with a current Bucknell freshman. Through the program, you will get a real insider’s view as to whether this school is for you. In this sense, the program is invaluable.

I wish I could speak more to the conference’s subject matter, but last year’s topic was different, so unfortunately there isn’t much else for me to say. :(

Thanks for the heads up anemgi! It doesn’t matter if you can speak more on this year’s subject…the fact that it was worthwhile and not another waste of time is all that matters in my book. Again, thanks for the info!
