Act: 25

Anyone heard of anyone getting into BC with a 25 or less or lets say a 1750 or less on their SAT. I would love to apply to BC and just see what happens but i would love to know of some stories that could keep my hope alive!

Thanks guys.

I personally don’t know of anyone - are you by chance a recruited athlete or legacy? If not, it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try. It is my understanding that BC looks seriously at your: EC’s, volunteer efforts, your rec’s, your essay. Also BC like passionate/high potential applicants, so play that up. Your test scores aren’t so great, you need to write an outstanding essay & get steller recs. Also, what is your GPS/class rank? That matters too. You just may get in!

would there be any advantage of having a teacher rec from someone who actually graduated from BC?

Yes I do know one who has something like that on the SAT. But that person is a orphan who survives poverty and works 30 hours a week on top of school everyday for five years in high school. Unless you can match or top that survival achievement, a 25 is going to be a tought sale.

P.S.
No advantage on teacher recommendation whatsoever.

The best way to see where your ACT 25 stands is to look at the Class of 2011 thread - last year’s acceptances, wait lists, and rejections. While this is a filtered listing of people really interested in attending Boston College, I went through the listings to pull together the accepted and waitlisted profiles.

Accepted Honors, SAT/ACT Scores : 2290/33 (Honors), 2200 (Honors), 2210 (Honors), 2290/34 (Honors)

Accepted, SAT/ACT Scores : 1910, 2010, 34, 2180, 33, 2230/33, 2190/32, 1900, 2110, 2310/34, 2060, 2090, 2120, 1900, 2180

Waitlisted, SAT/ACT Scores : 2030, 2040/31, 2090, 2010, 1930, 2260, 1990, 2060, 1710, 27, 2070, 1990

The conclusion is that ACT 25 will just not make the cut on the admissions list without some type of truly outstanding achievement accompanying the application. Sorry, but the board scores just have to be higher.
