ACT after SAT - conversion of study techniques

My high school junior took the SAT twice and scored 770 Math, 660 Writing and 560 critical reading - total 1990. He is strong in Math and Science. He will take the Math II, Chemistry and US History SAT II’s in May-June. He is most interested in biology and engineering programs. Should he take the ACT?

Also, after studying already for the SAT’s (practice tests, tutoring etc.), what is the best study technique to convert and be ready for the ACT? What can he do on his own to prepare for transition?

Thanks in advance!

Timing is a lot harsher on the ACT.

Less time per question? Can anyone comment on techniques to shift studying from SAT to ACT? Any opinions on whether to take the ACT?

Take practice tests to get used to the time difference. 2 of the sections feature 35 minuites, 40 questions, 60-60, and 45 min, 75 questions. Take a practice test to get familiar with the test and if he/she does not do better on the ACT than just skip it and stick with the SAT.

D did not spend much time on ACT after SAT and got 34. Her SAT is 2070. She felt ACT is much better for her, 1st test time is shorter( she got out around noon instead 13:30?) and 2nd test is arrranged so that it does not change subject for every section.
