Hey does anyone remember the answer to the one problem where it gave you the triangle ABC, and angle a was 47, b was 76, and BC was 18. And it asked for the distance from A to C.

Some of the answer choices i remember but they arent in order of which they appeared.

1) sin47/(18sin76)
2) sin47 * sin76/ 18
3) 18sin76 / sin47
4) sin76 / 18sin47
5) 18sin47 / sin76

----- Thanks, Galib.

Because it’s a parallelogram. They give you 55 as one of the angles. Using the interior angles rule, the angle close to the x axis is also 55. But since it’s asking for the angle close to the y axis, you just do 90 - 55 = 35.

The bottom portion of the shape is (0,0) and (c,0). c would be the width of the shape. And then the top portion is (a,b). ‘a’ is shifted over a little, so you add c to get the fourth vertex.

yup it was positive: x= -b +/- the square root of b^2- (4ac) all over 2 a… And it was something like x^2 -5x + something

lol Galib how did you possibly remember all 5 choices.

yea galib what was the awnser to that question I’m not sure

Haha it was on my calc. because it was the one i couldn’t get so it wasn’t cleared :), or we could say I have great memory…whatever you want lol :D.

What was that question where It gave you triange ABC and it said B=114. It said that angles A and C are complimentary. I subracted 114 from 180 and divided that by 2 to find the angle. however how could A and C be complimentary if 1 of the angles of the triangle was greater than 90. Dosent complimentray mean they add up to 90?

@Galib, you use law of sines. Which is like sinA/a = sinB/b= sinC/c. Or it could be a/sinA=b/sinB=c/sinC. If you draw it out, the side opposite of angle b (B or BC) is 18. So you can plug in 18/sin76=a/sinA. A= 47, and it’s opposite side is a(AC). So plug in and solve for ‘a’.

I"m pretty sure it said that A and C were equal.

I thought it said congruent, not complimentary

it said they were complimentary whatever I assumed they were equal.

It did say congruent.

There was a complementary question? o.o

@ UVA, all angles of a triangle must equal 180 and A and C were equal
so 180-114=66
66/2=33
answer was 33 i think

great man thought congruent means they add up to 90. whatever still got awnser right :)

Omg…law of sines, and I was stuck for a while trying to figure out how I would use a trig function to solve it. It was so obvious.

elau so what was the answer lol, i dont need an explanation at this time haha :D…so 18sin47/sin76?

I’m pretty sure the one on the law of sine was 18Sin76/sin47

Haha what ppl said.
