ACT-Different reading score, same subscore

My D and I just checked the new early scores from the April ACT test and she recieved the same composite as the Feb. test, 32. When comparing the 2 test scores she recieved the same subscores on the Reading test; 17 and 15. In Feb., the Reading score was a 32 and this time was a 31, I don’t understand why there would be a difference. It is really frustrating due to the fact that if it were scored the same, her composite would have been a 33!
Has anyone had a similar experience?

The ACT has numerous tests and it reuses them (usually a lapse period between any reuse of many years). For each test and section it is pre-determined the number of correct answers needed to score any particular ACT score between 1 and 36. The number correct needed for any particular score like 31 or 32 does vary from test to test by one or two answers because they consider a section in one test to be somewhat easier (or somewhat harder) than the same setion in another test. You should also note that those 15 and 17 underscores do not get added to determine the subscore and thus it is just coincidence to have a 15 and 17 and also a 32. What happens is the ACT has its conversion formula (not published) which it applies to those underscores to determine the section score.
