Hello everyone, I recently applied to Stanford (4.0 GPA and 32 ACT) and I saw on their website that students who got an English/Writing subscore in the range of 24-29 only had a 3% acceptance rate. I’m worried about this because my highest English/Writing subscore is 29 (got an 8 on the essay). Can anyone tell me how important the writing portion of the ACT is for Stanford admissions? I’m also from Illinois (not near Chicago), so does that help me at all in admissions?

A single subscore on your ACT is not going to make or break your admission decision. Don’t worry about it. In terms of writing, they are much more interested in your essays. I don’t think your state is going to affect it much either.

Your state of residency won’t matter. If you are qualified and they want you, you’re in.

Why do you torment yourself with statistics? You already applied, didn’t you? Just sit back and relax for a few month’s-- you’ll eventually know what happened.
