ACT essay and should I retake the SAT

After taking the December ACT and SAT tests, I have been confronted with two questions:

1) I did terrible on the SAT (600 CR, 770 Math, 650 writing, 2020 total) but good on the ACT (35 Composite). Will colleges care that my SAT was that much lower than my ACT? And if so, should I retake the SAT to get it a little closer to my ACT?

2) My ACT essay was pretty bad (7 out of 12). How big a deal is this?

I did even worse on the essay which I am kicking myself about since writing is generally my strong suit. I know I didn't write enough. Ugh. Still I got a 35 composite. I will retake in Feb. and know I can do much better on the writing but I, too, want to know--what will schools think about such a horrible initial writing score.

they dont care, they usually just see the combined english + writing score. Don't worry, u overachievers :)
also, most (if not all) schools take whichever score is higher, so ur ACT score will definitely be looked at and ur SAT score will be ignored since ur ACT score is higher

So if they only see the English+writing, then the essay screwed me
