27 (February) -> 31 (April) -> 32 (September) -> ??? (October)

My writing is terrible, I only retook the test in October because I wanted to improve it (Sept was the first one I took with writing).

I improved by doing a bunch of practice tests and reading two prep books. I also got the answer report for the April test, which really helped me figure out which concepts I kept on messing up on math.

I’m done taking them now, even if I get poor results from October. October was just an attempt to see if I could do a bit better on writing.

firemylasers–thanks for sharing! May I ask how you got the answer report? that seems like a good way to see what your doing wrong! Can you tell me how I can get it? thanks for the help!

Pretty sure you buy it on the ACT website

ACT offers the answer report for an additional fee, but only on certain test dates. I noticed that it was an option when I took the April test and decided that it was worth the money to see exactly what I got right/wrong. They give you a sheet with the answers you gave and the right answers on it, along with the booklet from the test (I can’t remember if it was the exact booklet I had or a new copy of the same booklet).

I’d say one of the things that really helped me was using my pencil more. Crossing out answers, putting a mark next to problems that you aren’t completely sure about (so that you can revisit them during the remaining time after finishing), marking answers on the sheet then transferring them to the scantron bubbles, etc.

dwootton - how did you increase your scores - books, tutor, practice tests, etc. I am on your schedule as far as testing but I am a junior and need to improve my score by 4 or 5 pts. Thanks for any info!

32 —> 33 —> Hopefully higher! And I’m pretty sure I improved.

I took a lot of practice tests to improve, and this last test I think I nailed it.

28 (7th grade)---->??? (Took it this past Saturday; currently a sophomore)
