I’m looking to go to Haverford College in Pennsylvania and when I took the psat, I didn’t do so great on it (1680) would you say I would have a better chance at the ACT? because I’m more of a book smart person rather than a logical problem solving person. Also, has anyone actually done significantly better on the one test than the other? Thanks!!

Try them both if you can. Many people do better on one than the other.

Hm, I did better on the ACT than the SAT because I am better at reasoning and less reading-savvy. I could barely do any of the vocabulary questions on the SAT CR section and I hardly knew any of the grammar rules on the writing portion. I find the math to be a bit more straight forward on the ACT though.
The ACT doesn’t require as much memorization from my experience.

I’d recommend taking both. Before I knew about DH1 and DH2, I received around 2100 on my SAT. After I studied the whole summer for vocab, I was scoring around 2280-2300 on practice tests, but I thought I’d take a crack at the ACT, and currently I have a 34 and might have a 35 (waiting for Dec. results). So I think I performed the same on both. But ACT is less memorization, so I went with that.

I had the same exact score as you on the PSAT (168) and ended up with a 2200 on the SAT (two tries) and a 34 on the ACT (one try). Don’t get down on yourself just yet. Work hard to prepare for both tests, see how you do on each, and plan out what you will send accordingly.
