ACT - Is shorter better?

In the ACT English section, is shorter always better?

not always but it tends to be. It isn’t trying to trick you like the SAT so the ACT english section is relatively easy.

Not always, but if you’re stuck between two answers, the shorter/less convoluted one is usually right.

hmm… I don’t think you can measure it like that. For the SAT, yes, I feel like the shorter is better on the Writing section because you should be concise. But ACT, like 14daltg said it’s not trying to trick you. So just go with what you know.

Generally, shorter is better. The test often has several answer choices that are subtly repetitive, whereas the concise answers are often more straightforward and simpler. With that said, don’t just assume that the shortest answer is the correct answer, but if stuck between two choices, you will most likely have a better shot with the shorter one. Good luck!

Yes, shorter is usually better. If I am stuck between two answers, I take the shorter one. It has worked about 90% of the time.
