ACT n SAT score ranks

The information I got from ACT prep books and websites is conflicting. ACT prep books note that most students achieve a 18-20 score. On the other hand, most web responses indicated 30-34 with the highest frequency.
SAT seems to rank individuals with a high accuracy. However, I’m unsure how ACT scores corresponds with the ranking of individuals. Is the distinguishing total score between the ACt and SAT the cause for the misconceptions in the ACT in contrast to the SAT?

Ranking of individuals…? Wait…, what?

I have no idea what you’re saying, but I’ll take a gander anyway. I think you’re confused with some schools average range (30-34) and the average score which is around 18-20.
