Can doing poorly in one area of the ACT affect your chances of getting into college if you don’t plan to major in that area?
On my ACT, I got a 33 in Reading, a 32 in English, a 10 out of 12 in Writing, and a 24 in Science.
Math was a 19.
I plan on going to either Purdue or Ball State for Elementary Education, so would the low math score hurt me at all?

Yes, low section scores can be an issue regardless of major, particularly if it is math. Many colleges consider the English and math sections to be the more important section scores (in fact some colleges use only the math and English scores) and the fact that colleges such as Purdue and Ball State use composite to determine admission does not mean they are blind to section scores.
