I want to compile a list of strategies that CC’ers use on the ACT Reading! I find that this is a hard part to many testers as this section is probably the most time-intensive.

My strategy: I Read over the questions first, organizing them mentally in the order that I should answer them (I look for “pointer” questions first ie. In Lines 34-37, From paragraph 2…etc.). After that, I read the passage one or two paragraphs at a time and stop in between to answer the questions that are based on those sections. This way, I am answering the questions in groups rather than all at one time. I don’t write or underline that much, because I usually answer the questions as I read the passage.

I also read my passages in the order of: social science (2), humanities (3), natural science(4), then prose fiction(1).

Please feel free to contribute how you attacked the ACT Reading section! Do you underline and jot notes in the passages? Or do you just work from your head?
