ACT Reading top scoring students!! - 'EXCEPT', 'LEAST' questions???

Hi! I’m preparing for the ACT this September, and I’m having difficulty with some of the ACT Reading questions.
In particular, I tend to grow hesitant when I encounter the ‘EXCEPT’ and ‘LEAST’ questions. As you may know, these questions require you to either recall from short-term memory, or require you to filter 4 answers that are TRUE one by one where eventually you’re left with one FALSE (not referenced) detail.

For those of you who did well on the ACT Reading section, how did you approach those questions? Did you just have great short-term memory that you memorized the things the author mentioned and not mentioned? If not, how did you go about determining whether each detail was mentioned in the passage without having to waste waste time looking back for every answer choice?

Would appreciate your tips and strategies. Thanks!

From my experience with these questions, the key is to just quickly skim the passage (if you can’t recall) until you see one of the answer choices in the passage and you should be good from there because they are always grouped in a specific part of the passage. If you read the passage efficiently, you should be able to have some idea where to look in the passage. From there, you can determine the correct answer to the question.
