ACT reading

i absolutely love humanities followed by prose fiction. however, natural science and social science have so much information that i just zone out …what strategies can i use to prevent this help ?

Force yourself to be interested in it. Concentrate & read the passages as if they were from the most interesting book you’ve ever picked up. This sounds silly, but it definitely helped for the readings I didn’t fancy!

Underline key words. It helps you pay attention. The natural science section usually has questions that are fact based and detailed oriented. Also, if there is a sequence of events, put numbers in the margins. Often the sequence will come up in a question.

For the reading section, I always dragged my pencil along while I read. For some reason, it helped me concentrate and made me read more efficiently. Also, try to jotting down a word or two that summarizes each paragraph in the margins and circling any names (esp. in natural sciences).
