My daughter has >30 on Math, English, and Reading on her first ACT but her science is below 25.

Does anyone have a sure fire ways to improve her score or test taking strategies that could work for her?

She is a good student so it would be tragic if she could not improve this.

You basically have to be a fast reader and know which information to pick out out of all the info the test gives you. Or simply skip to the questions and use the graphs/tables for reference. I realized this during the science section when I took the ACT (I had barely prepared for it).

The science section basically revolves around how to interpet data. Like the above poster said, you actually don’t have to read most of the information they give you but just look at the graphs. You don’t really even have to know the subject to do well. I didn’t take Physics yet when I took the test but when a Physics problem came up, it was really just how to interpret the diagram.

Good luck!

I think you just need to practice a little more. I think the section is least like its name. Its totally an IQ based test. It will come with practice, I am sure :)

Not trying to advertise or anything but I too have been struggling in both the Reading and Science section. Recently though I have begun to use certain tips and tricks to increase my scores tremendously.

On page 6, I discuss what tips I used and my jump from a 22 to a 31.
