Alright, I think we’ve all realized that the ACT Science section definitely does NOT require a vast knowledge of science. It’s all about understanding the graphs, charts, data, text, and their significance. The short amount of given time also adds to the pressure.

What are some strategies you guys have tried and really worked?
Please chime in (especially silverturtle and other gurus who are reading this), for this is meant to benefit all fellow CC’s.

35 minutes, 7 passages. I would say that there is generally only one strategy for this section- work quickly. It’s almost (if not completely) unanimous on this forum that you need to go to the questions first, identify which graph, chart, or data table they want you to use, and then answer them accordingly. For the debating scientists part, though, you will need to quickly read each person’s viewpoint while underlining the significant portions or jotting down brief summaries to the side; then you just answer the questions, referencing the passage or your notes if necessary. Whether you’re practicing for the science section or taking it on test day, wear a watch so that you can monitor your time and increase or decrease your speed as needed.
