So I am going to be a junior this year, and I am taking the 11 week ELITE act course. It has already been 6 weeks and I have only improved by 2 points! I have not studied for the ACT at all before my class. All the studying I have ever done has been during these 6 weeks. I was planning on taking the ACT this September, but seeing how slowly I am improving I don’t think I will be able to. Here are what my scores have been each week so far
24,24,25,26,26,25,26 (the last test I took myself)
I am so frustrated because my goal is to get a 33/34. I still have all my junior left but I am just so confused that I am not improving because in school I am ranked top 10, and for some reason I can not do well on the ACT.
I have also been doing all the homework my class has given me, which is a lot. I go through all my wrong answer, do practice problems for each section every week, and read packets that cover the materials for each section!
Also for science my past two scores have been really low (22/23) when I usually get (26/27) and I don’t know why!
Here is what I do in each section
ENGLISH: I read the passage and answer the questions as I go ( I have been improving in English)
MATH: I answer every question, I feel like i am getting questions right but I am not (been staying around the same score each week)
READING: I read each passage then answer questions. I read the passages that are easiest to me first (Always missing seven or eight each time that are the detail questions found in the passage etc.) I feel like I understand the whole passage but I still miss the ones that have the answers right in the passage.
SCIENCE: I look at the question first than refer to the passage. I do the data rep/research summaries first than I do the conflicting viewpoints last. I have trouble looking at the question first because some of the questions involve more than just looking at the pictures, you have to read parts of the passages, but than there is not enough time to read the whole passage. And I don’t really know how to answers the conflicting viewpoint question. Also I get so rushed during the this section because when I go over it I am able to answer the questions correctly. So how do I cope with this?
Please help me figure out why I am not improving and if I can eventfully get a 33/34 !!! I am really upset because other people in my class are getting pretty high scores! And since I have not been improving I barely have any motivation to study anymore plus It is going to be harder to study because I have school starting in this week.
