ACT Score reporting

My son selected 4 schools to send his ACT score to in February 2024. He took the test one more time in March and his Superscore improved. In September 2024, he selected 9 more schools to send his scores to. Do the 4 schools selected in February see the improved superscore as a result of the March test?

No.

Why is he sending scores? Most schools accept self reported scores and don’t require an official score report until matriculation. There is no need to pay so send scores to all those schools.

He can self report his new scores and/or email the school if his application was already submitted.

@TonyGrace YES! This was my big mistake last year…I paid to send scores to 16 schools when it was completely unnecessary. Next child I won’t make the same mistake again!

I guess I made a mistake having my kids take care of the application process, I think they paid for scores! I don’t want to know.

Actually, some schools (UMass Amherst, UVM, etc.) do require official reports and will not consider the test score until that report is sent directly to them from the testing company.

Yes. Though the majority of schools allow self reporting you have to verify each school’s policy.

We did the same thing. I do not think that it is a mistake. It is possible that having the kids take care of the application process might cost a bit extra (such as by sending scores when they are not needed) or conceivably even result in a rejection, but I still think that it is a good learning process for them.

I suppose that we might however have wanted to mention this issue to them.
