ACT Strategies? (slow, but intelligent student)

ACT English:

  • While practicing for the ACT English section, i've noticed that I have a hard time focusing because the passages are written incorrectly, and it messes me up in that i'm not able to focus.
  • Are there any strategies to combat this? (also i've noticed that half the time whenever I go back to see what I missed, it's usually a silly mistake that I wasn't able to catch the first time because of reading the grammatically incorrect passage)

ACT Reading:

  • What are some effective strategies to doing this section, or which strategies have you found to be the most effective? I’m a pretty slow reader and am slow at comprehending.
    I’ve tried these strategies:
  1. Read and answer line reference questions first, then quickly read the passage.
  2. Read the passage first, then answer the questions.
  3. Read the questions first, then answer the passage. (I usually run out of time)
  4. Read half of the passage, glance over questions, and answer the ones that have been covered so far, then read the other half.

For the english section, please list any simple strategies that you do (circle certain things, do questions in a particular order, use your finger to keep track, etc.).
