How much do you think specific sub-scores on the ACT are considered in relation to your desired major when applying for top schools? Say you are applying to be a Mathematics major at Swarthmore and you have a 36 in Math but a 25 in English. Would the admissions committee overlook the English score?

I’m planning to study in Communications/Sociology/Int’l Studies, those sort of subjects. I have a 35 on English and 34 on Reading, but a 24 on Math and 28 in science (C:30). My top choices at this point include Vassar, Haverford, and Williams. I know plenty of other factors play into the admissions process, but I’m asking about test scores specifically.

Any thoughts?
