ACT superscore mix with and without writing?

We have two sets of ACT scores, one with writing and one without writing. In the app, they ask for best scores for each section of ACT. Does anyone know if we can mix and match both sets of scores, including scores from the one without writing? Obviously only 1 writing score but we do have 2 sets of everything else.

Also curious why MIT wants ACT with writing as they have been upfront about not using the SAT writing score?

They want the SAT with writing, as well. They’re collecting data on whether the SAT/ACT writing scores correlate with anything they care about in admissions.

My gut feeling would be yes, it would be acceptable to mix and match scores from ACT administrations with and without writing. When in doubt, though, send both scores to MIT and they will decide which best scores meet their criteria.

Thanks Mollie, I thought since they want at least one writing score, which there is, the rest would be OK to mix/match. Both sets of scores will get sent, just didn’t want to not be proper on the application itself where they ask for best scores for each section.

Makes sense about the data collection.
