ACT vs SAT Competitiveness/Advantages/etc.

<p>I’m going to be a HS senior this upcoming school year.</p>

<p>I’ve only ever taken the ACT, never the SAT. I have however taken the SAT II’s.</p>

<p>I’ve heard rumors that the SAT is more competitive, that it looks better than the ACT, especially to the more “elite” schools. I’ve also seen that the ACT covers material that the SAT skips over. Does a person taking one test really get an edge over those individuals taking the other test?</p>

<p>Maybe I’m just being a bit paranoid about this whole college application thing…</p>

<p>Some students do better on the SAT than the ACT, and vice-versa. Try a released old SAT under test conditions (saturday morning, time limits, etc.). If your score is significantly higher than what your ACT score corresponds to, then consider signing up for the earliest fall SAT date.</p>
