ACT vs. SAT

if i have an 1860 on the SAT,
520 on CR
670 on math…

would it be possible for a 31 at least?

It’s definitely possible. A lot depends on which test you’re better at taking, and how much effort you put into it. But definitely possible.

I had a 1790 on SAT and got a 31 on the ACT this April so definately possible ;P

what do you think made you guys do better on the ACTs? did you find the materials easier?

I got a 1840 on the SAT and a 31 on the ACT, so it is definitely possible. I think I did better on the ACT because I’ve been taking pre-ACT tests since 8th grade (Explore/PLAN tests) and am much more familiar with it. The only practice I had before taking the SAT though was taking the PSAT once. Good luck.

ill only have the summer to study for the ACTs. do you guys still think its possible?

ive been practicing for SATs hxc since last summer.

I wouldn’t be surprised if you were able to pull off a 31 by just taking a few practice tests to familiarize yourself with the ACT. The summer is definitely enough time to study for the ACT. Also, if you buy some ACT prep books, I recommend you getting Real ACT (red book) for the practice tests and Princeton Review to learn the concepts. Good luck.

Trust me… the ACT is soo much easier than the SAT… no memorizing vocab, (usually) no trick questions, free guesses = a lot better than the SAT… I’m pretty sure if you are bad at vocab, you’ll do great on the ACT. (Although the major difference between these two tests is timing… make sure to pace yourself in ACT… you’ll have a lot less time compared to the SAT)

i wanna apply to upenn (my FIRSTCHOICE!) …lol would 31 be a reach to upenn?

btw, thanks whitesox24 and killersdeat0 :]

31 would be an extreme reach for pretty much all IVY’s, unless you are a URM, yet even then it is a reach.

I wouldn’t even both applying.

There are tables to find the relationship and concordance between SAT and ACT scores. You can find them at:
