ACT Writing MC vs. Essay Portion

<p>Hi CC-ers,</p>

<p>I’m relatively new to the ACT, so I have some questions that can probably be answered fairly easily by people who have taken the ACT:</p>

<ol>
<li><p>I know there are 2 parts, the multiple choice and the combined writing. Are these 2 scores separate?</p></li>
<li><p>Can I take just the multiple choice on one day and then take the combined writing section on a different day? Or do they have to be taken together?</p></li>
<li><p>Should I take the combined writing portion?</p></li>

  1. The scores will show up separately but I believe there was also a column that showed the combined writing mc and essay together.
  2. If you choose to take the ACT essay, MC and essay must be taken on the same day.
  3. Most of my schools and the schools if my peers required the essay so if I were you I'd take the essay.
