ACT Writing

For the writing section on the ACT, this was going to be the format I was gonna use:

-state position

Body paragraph
-1 or 2 examples

Body paragraph
-1 or 2 examples

Body paragraph
-1 or 2 examples

Con paragraph
-make two counterarguements

Do you have any tips or suggestions for this format? I really want to get a 10 on the essay! Thanks.

Six paragraphs in under thirty minutes is quite a daunting task. What I would do is put the arguments together in each paragraph. You already have the opening and conclusion, and roughly you probably only need 3 paragraphs (or 3 points) to prove your thesis. However, if you can get more thoroughly supported ideas, go for it.

Although, you seem to have a counter argument. Wouldn’t you just be contradicting what you have previously spoken and therefore just wasted part of your time?

No I mean saying why the other side is wrong in my counterarguements.

If you think you can manage that, the counter argument, then go for it.

I’m taking ACT for the first time tomorrow and I’m gonna probably stick with basic 5 paragraph format.

Yeah I’m taking it for the first time too tomorrow. So nervous! Good luck!
