Hey Ben, I was wondering how a position of leadership such as Eagle Scout, Senior Patrol Leader, and Order of the Arrow member(it’s a society for the troop’s and council’s elite) from Boy Scouts is seen in comparison to leadership as a class president or student council member.

Also, I am a triathlete, but I train and compete independently from my school besides rides with the cycling club. Will this help me, hurt me, or neither in being considered? It shows I have the motivation to reach my goals, but then again I didn’t receive a varsity letter or anything. Also, I am a sub-4 hour marathon finisher. Are top race ranks or personal bests important to list?

Finally, I frequently do relief service in Nicaragua drilling wells and building houses. I lived there for 2 months a summer ago, and I return every summer for at least a couple of weeks. I try to go to the soup kitchen and help with the local hospital regularly during the school year, but I have sooooo much going on that I just can’t find enough time. Do you feel that the fact that I have lived helping the poor, and I am on my way to becoming fluent in Spanish balances out my lack of time during the year?

Thanks again for taking the stress out of applying.
E Barbara
