“Briefly describe which single activity listed in the Activity section of your Common Application represents your most meaningful commitment and why.”

I’d like to write about my participation at an international math olympiad, however I’ve listed this achievement under Honors in the Education section(as far as I know that’s the place where olympiads and contests should be mentioned). So what should I do? Move my olympiad in the Activities section? Find another activity to write about? Help would be appreciated.

It really depends on if you are still committed to Math Olympiad. If the math Olympiad were one and done events, I would leave it in the honors and find another activity. If you consistently go to Math Olympiad club/practice and still do today, I would not only keep Math Olympiad in the honors, but also place it under activities. Whatever is ranked number one on your activities list should be the topic of your activity essay.

Don’t bother finding another ability to write about if you’re most meaningful activity/commitment is Math Olympiad. For my common app essay, activities essay, and recent event essay, I wrote on the same topic: my most meaningful commitment. Be yourself and show Columbia what your passions are.

Yes, I’m still comitted to the Math Olympiad, and I’ve participated in it for many years, that experience wasn’t a singular one.
So it’s OK to place it both under honors and under activities? That’s quite nice, if true.
