Which would seem more prestigious on a college application for a high schooler (rank the following: company internships (working experience in an academic field), research internships (at a university or a laboratory), research summer camps (e.g. RSI), class-based summer camps (e.g. COSMOS), college courses (with transferrable credit e.g. community college transferrable to UCs, both during the school year and during the summer), “self-studying”, community service (raising money for ___), working at a low paying job (e.g. McDonalds)?
For conciseness:
- company internship
- research internship
- research summer camp
- class-based summer camp
- college courses
- “self studying”
- community service
- working at a low paying job
I understand that they do not exactly dominate over each other, but I would like a rough guideline.
