He had a stroke last week. Only 52 years old.
I haven’t followed him past 90210 much but somehow pictured him to be much, much younger than me (59).
I remember him being sort of a risky heart throb on 90210. Peace Luke.

Whaaaaat? I thought it was a minor stroke and he was ok!!
I did watch little bit of original 90210. Geez, he is the same age as me!!
RIP Luke Perry - “Dylan”.
How sad. RIP Luke. My thoughts are with his children and family.
So sad. 90210 was big when I was in college. A group of us would take over a friend’s off campus house every Wednesday night to watch 90210 and Melrose Place. The house was owned by 2 guys but our girls friend lived there too - they hated when we would show up, turn off hockey and sit around being loud for 2 hours. My dad hated that I planned my schedule around “the shows.” There was a Wednesday night astronomy class I was interested in and never took because of the timing - he thought I was nuts!
I saw a reference to him being hospitalized, but no details were given. Then I saw Twitter comments from his former co-stars that gave me the impression something really serious had happened.
Gone too soon.
So sad. He’s my age which makes it a bit startling. I’ve been following this story. I had just seen something he was in and I mentioned at the time he didn’t look good to me. I think he was a smoker, I wonder if that contributed. Not that it matters or is my business, I am not usually that affected by celebrity deaths. I’m sure his family and friends are devastated. I heard his family was with him at the end and it’s even sadder to me when I hear his parents out lived him.
Wow. So many in my age group are checking out. I used to watch 90210.
My generation knows him from Riverdale.
Ted Lindsay the hockey player and Keith Flint of the Prodigy announced today too.
RIP to all of them.
Watching 90210 on Hulu right now, cherry-picking my own best of Luke Perry retrospective. .
He was also good in a lot of darker guest starring roles, including Criminal Minds, SVU, and Oz.
Top ones for me:
Season 5 finale - Kelly “I choose me.”

Season 6 - Dylan’s wife, Toni, dies

@skieurope completely agree with your selection of his performance in the episode, scene in the rain, where his new wife dies. RIP Luke Perry
I never watched his shows regularly but it’s too bad. He wasn’t that old either…
My girls watched 90210, and I always thought that he was the most interesting character on the show. I watched him on Oz and he was very good as Reverend Cloutier. Stroke can hit at any age. My D who is a teacher had a student who had had a stroke at 7 years old.
Just 52.
He just aged so badly. I saw a picture of him and George Clooney. Clooney looks better now. I think smoking hurt Perry’s overall health so much. Very sad.
I was way too old to watch “90210” but I was definitely aware of him. As I told my husband, back in those days I kept up with this stuff by looking at People magazine in check out lines or in doctors’ offices LOL.
That said, a few years ago I saw the mature Luke Perry interviewed and I was very impressed by him. It’s a huge loss for his family and friends, no doubt.
So very sad. I always liked him as an actor.
