is working as an actuary (and passing several examinations along the way) viewed favorably for MBA admissions? I know its not along the lines of IB or MC, but i always considered an actuary as a solid job. any input?

the key is your success and professional promise in such a job. have you taken leadership positions? Have you ‘led’ the organization towards any sorts of new ideas or directions? Have you gotten promoted? Have you left a trail of “satisfied customers” in your coworkers, bosses and clients? those are the key questions. there have probably been sanitation engineers admitted to top MBA programs - sure, it’s very unlikely, but it’s POSSIBLE if you demonstrate the kind of early-career professional promise that they want to see.
