Is there a way to remove an optional essay from our application, assuming we were deferred EA?

I don’t think this essay really contributes positively to my application–instead it seems to distort my true interests and possibly confuse the evaluator.

I discuss my involvement and success in robotics when my application is centered around medicine.

Although this was in response to someone who wanted to edit an essay, I would guess this also indicates that you cannot remove an essay from your original application.

I have a simillar situation. Too bad we can’t remove optional essays. I also wanted to change my major to MechE and discuss the Biotrack (thanks for the guidance on your blog Mollie :))!

I guess I will just have to discuss this in the supplemental letters I send. Wonder whether they would hold this against me.

If the essay was well-written and held voice, I don’t see any reason why you should be worried about it. Especially if the rest of your application emphasizes your interest in medicine, this essay should enhance your application by showing your evaluators another side of you.
