How many times do you visit College Discussion? Am I the only one freaking out? Two (sometimes three times) a day, is it too much or there’s someone who can beat me?

That makes the two of us (at least!) – I visit 2-3 times a day, if not more… go to new posts, then search for a couple of colleges to see if anyone posted anything, then do a general reading.

I can stay on the site for hours (like today as I’m not working) – go do other stuff, then come back. I certainly agree there is something addictive about it! (Although I tell myself it’s only to collect information and views so my kid can make the best choice – which of course is the reason I started visiting in the first place).

Yeah! Same here, I’m really addicted to this site haha. I visit this site like 4 times a day when I don’t have school! It’s really interesting to read people’s posts and insights on different issues etc.

Ditto. I’m visiting the site whenever I’m on the computer to check for new postings. This is crazy! I can’t wait till May is here and I can say “yes” I’m going to your school and be done with all the waiting.

I am on this site way too often. I think I have such extreme anxiety over my d college applications, this is a coping mechanism. I’m not really a heli-mom, I just want everything to work out okay for her.

NorthEast: Definitely a coping mechanism here; My d is convinced she will not be accepted at her “top schools”…I kept telling her not to be sooooo pessimistic…After being on this site since last summer, I am now in her camp; I am much more realistic???..She will definitely be disappointed for a little while, but having the info from this sight will definitely soften the blow…I have already started talking up the schools she has been accepted to (and I have our friends and family doing the same)…Yea, I should have started having children a couple of years earlier(better demographics), but then I wouldn’t have had the $$$ to send them to college at all…

I’m here at least 4-5 times a day…it’s sad.

I used to be on here alot, but now that college is taking up most of my time, I come every couple of days for about 15 minutes to check on all the other members…

there’s no reason to be addicted here…seriously.

It’s kind of like the intermittent reinforcement from the slot machine. You check and check and check, and every one in awhile a payoff! That little yellow dot next to the red star that means a new post in a thread you posted in! Maybe it was a response to something YOU said! Or better yet, maybe there’s a special piece of information that will make a difference…or a question you can help with!..Better keep checking…

I used sooo addicted once…but really it’s not worth being “addicted”…like, frankly…as Innovative said…no reason to be “addicted”.
