Adding a sixth class good idea or no?

These are the classes that I’ve registered for already:
Accounting I
Public speaking
Elementary Statistics
Business info applications
US history since 1865
6th class I want to add- English 2111

I am assuming you are going to be a freshman? Are you going to be living in a dorm? I think 6 classes is too much, especially if both those answers are yes - college is a big adjustment!

Have you talked with your guidance counselor or someone in the nursing department? Most programs have nursing students take chemistry or anatomy freshman year. You definitely want to make sure you are on track for whatever school you are attending. If it is not a direct entry program I would be worried about maintaining a high GPA with that class load as well.

I’m a sophomore and I’m also staying in an apartment on campus.

What’s your current GPA? What high school background do you have in history or English?
Don’t you have to take bio, chemistry, etc?

My current GPA is a 2.5 and I’m really good with English and history. And yes I do have to take either chem or bio but I was gonna take it in the spring so I can have time to bring up my GPA

Don’t take 6 classes if you have a 2.5. Even for students with 3.75 GPAs it’s daunting, so you’d likely tank your GPA beyond recognition.
My suggestion:
Take
SOCI 2293-Intro to Marriage and Family
MATH 1200-Elementary Stats
ARTS 1000-Art Appreciation
HIST 2111-US HISTORY TO 1865

  • a science
    Fall semester

Then
PSYC 2103-INTO TO HUMAN DEVELOPMENY
ENGL 2111-WORLD LIT I
a science
and 2 other classes
Spring semester

If you have the possibility/if your college allows you to (check with Registrar), take two gen eds (more History or English since you’re good at them, a science class…?) at your local community college to offset your first-year GPA. Taking classes over the summer will “dilute” your freshman grades.

In what subjects did you get grades below B (B- and down)?

I decided to take your advice on the choice of classes and I also decided to take the BIOL 1001k and 1001L first semester. The grade that I had below a B was PSYC 1101 and SOCI 1160

That’s great news!
Any way you can retake equivalents to those two at a CC over the summer? Or two other Psych and SOCI classes?

How many credits would that be?

Don’t go over 15 hours. If your schedule with 6 classes puts you at 17+, don’t do that to yourself your first semester. If you breeze through 15 hours you can go ahead and add another next semester.

I’m at 15 now but if I add the English it’ll be 18

Ya don’t do that. Take 15 if it’s your first semester, that’s enough. I took 18 last semester just to get finished up because it was my senior year and it was extremely difficult. Lots of work. Looking through your old posts too, you have a 2.5, so definitely don’t do this. I had a 3.7 and it was still very difficult to keep up with everything. You should be doing everything in your power to get higher grades right now, not making things more difficult for yourself and tanking your GPA even further.

I’ve registered for
SOCI 2293-Intro to Marriage and Family
MATH 1200-Elementary Stats
ARTS 1000-Art Appreciation
HIST 2111-US HISTORY TO 1865
PSYC 2103-INTO TO HUMAN DEVELOPMENY
ENGL 2111-WORLD LIT I

I agree with the others. The only reason to take six courses in your case is if you plan to drop one of the six after the first two weeks. Otherwise, take five courses that have an overall balanced workload and focus on doing well.
