adding more energy into this forum

this forum is so dead. C’mon!

okay…so who’s applying as a biology major and doing pre-med?

I applied as a math and chemistry major with intent in doing pre-med. I completely agree this forum is dead. From personal experience how are the professors at Rochester?

I third that- the forum needs more life. I applied as a biochem major (hoping to double with history) and doing pre-med.

chem…and biochemm…those are two hardcore majors.

Don’t take offense at this because I don’t mean any towards you.

Here’s another way to look at the forum being dead though. Maybe this forum is quiet because students at Rochester and people applying to Rochester lead interesting lives and don’t have too much time to post on this forum. I find it a turn off when schools have forums where it look like dozens of current students are spending hours each day posting to people who haven’t gotten in yet or when lots of applicants are trying to get some sort of edge up on other people by getting information online.

I agree that it would be fun to read more about UR, but I’m also relieved there aren’t too many posters.

No offense taken. Lol. That’s a very valid point. But what’s a forum without people? =)

What’s the surrounding city like? Well I’ve heard that Rochester the city itself, is a dead place  But I’m excited for the prospect of attending there anyway.
And I’ve heard good stuff about their research opportunities (which is one of the main reasons why I applied)… so I hope that’s true hehe

Hm, I’m a prospective Biology/Neuroscience/Cognitive Science/something like that major. But there’s a really great likelihood I’ll switch to English, or add it on somehow.

Anyone know if Rochester’s good in that department?

pre-med-- chem major probably  though I’d like to do math, spanish and art minors as well if I have time…

to nofx–
i live in rochester…it’s pretty much what you make of it. we get some semi-known concerts b/c of the blue cross arena…and comix cafe is really popular with local college students…

we’ve got a lot of artsy stuff, if you’re into that…but other than that, it’s a typical city–malls, restaurants, etc…but it’s not nyc. there’s lots of stuff to do on campus at u of r, though…that’s a better option than the city itself.

hope this helps! and if you have any questions about roch–trans, life, etc…feel free to pm.

Thanks zel! That’s great to know. I was a bit worried about the surrounding city but it’s awesome to hear that there’s plenty to do on and off campus (especially on campus!).
