Additional Comments on Coursework?

Would it be bad to say I took a certain course for fun and had no intention of using it as a transferable course? I got a C in astronomy and I really did not care for that course and I dropped the lab, its the only big screw up in my coursework. It was a simple class, but the dean at my school lied to me saying that UC’s won’t look at it because it is irrelevant to my major Biochem. I wanted to say that I took the course out of mere amusement and was assured that it would not factor my admission, when I already notice it affects my UC Assist.org GPA.

hmm that doesn’t sound right. Is there a better way to word this? Maybe say something like you felt misled and quickly lost interest, but rather than dropping you decided to stick it out and finish.

Excuses look bad. Just say you took the course outside of your intended major because it interested you, however when you began the course you found the workload to be heavy or different than you anticipated and knowing that your focus was elsewhere you applied for attention to those other important courses (i.e. IGETC courses/major prep from the same semester) and thus your astro grade fell below your expectation. Say that you worked hard however and you really enjoyed the class. I really think blaming it on someone else is a danger zone. Just be honest and speak of how you overcame it, not how you got into the situation.
