Additional Info - explaining poor SAT scores

Hello all,

My daughter took the SATs in October and December. We haven't seen the December scores yet but the October scores were pretty low. She is a senior in high school, a great student with a high GPA in a demanding course load, but she's not a native English speaker. This is her first and only year she's been exposed to timed, multiple-choice type testing. Before this year, she was in school in Europe where the teaching is all done in Italian and most tests are oral.

Is it worth explaining these circumstances in the additional info section in the Common App and if so, how to word it without appearing whiny?

Thanks!

( ((bump)) )

Definitely. She should have her guidance counselor explain it in her recommendation letter.
