<p>I think it can be an essay or whatever you want. A lot of people attach a resume to elaborate on their EC’s. Or you could explain a dip in your grades, etc. Its pretty much whatever you think they need to know.</p>
<p>You can attach a resume, though it’s only recommended if you really need to elaborate on your ECs. Plenty of people can fit their accomplishments within the spaces on the Common App.</p>
<p>Otherwise, it’s the place to explain a dip in grades, a family trauma, a disciplinary infraction–anything that you think would explain something funny on your app.</p>
