So on the march 2013 SAT I got a 710 on writing. My October scores came back with a 500 on writing. Now that I think of it, I am almost sure I made a clerical error on the section. I usually skip the hard questions and move on. I think what happened was I skipped a question in the booklet, but did not reflect the “jump” on the answer sheet (11 in the 10 spot, 12 in the 11 spot etc.) Should I attempt to explain this snafu in the Additional Information section of the common app?

Ii would not draw the attention to that as many school do not even consider the writing score. If they do, most would consider the best section score.

So you don’t think any admissions counselor would look at the disparity between the two and suspect cheating??

So you don’t think any admissions counselor would look at the disparity between the two and suspect cheating??

No, they would not suspect cheating just based on scores alone. Plenty of folks have an issue resulting in big differences between test sittings.

thanks for your advice

I think it would be better to write it down in the additional info, I agree with you that admin officers might wonder why. Or you can ask your counselor to write it for you in his/her report, to make it seem less like an excuse and more like a real believable reason.

When a college’s score use policy says they only consider the highest section scores across all sittings in the final decision, does that mean they are able to see my lower section scores as well?
