I’m a rising senior in high school and I have already started touring colleges. So far I have toured Virginia Tech, James Madison, Christopher Newport, Clemson and the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. The one thing I still am missing is that college feel with a little town and shops surrounding it. As of right now I have about a 3.95 GPA and 1220 SAT score. I’m really looking to stay within Virginia but don’t mind going further north or south.
What’s your budget?
Under 40,000
I would suggest William & Mary if you raise your SAT scores up a bit. It has a very small town feel with Colonial Williamsburg right next door and a bunch of cute shops and restaurants. The College has a very strong tight-knit community and has a pretty neat looking campus. Even if you don’t end up going or decide not to apply, I would still suggest visiting because I think it has the feel you are looking for, you’d just have to find similar colleges. It was the first one I thought of since you said you lived in Virginia. Alternatively, perhaps the University of Richmond or Radford College are also other colleges in the Virginia area.
I second William and Mary! Even when I toured, there was such a community feel on campus yet there is colonial Williamsburg across the street as well as places like Busch gardens.
