do you even want to go to college for academic reasons?

college isn’t for everyone, sometimes its not worth the money if you are just going for the life experience.

^ I think most people are truly not going to college for academic reasons, lol. I am, but most other people are there for the college life.

I’m goin for academic reasons…but when you feel so uncomfortable in your surroundings that it feels like its hindering your academic abilities i think it might be time to change locations. But i have to give it another semester and see how things go…i think i’m going to take summer classes at another school and see how i like things there (its probably not going to be the same thing as a regular semester but this is the only plan i can think of) if i dont like my summer choice i reckon i’ll have to tough out unc for 3 more years :/

Hey, I feel your pain. I go to a large prestigious public school, and I don’t like it at all, really disappointing. Grades aren’t the big issue; it’s just so easy to get lost in the big crowds and not really make any close/meaningful connections. Here’s to hoping second semester will be better–

Im definitly here for the academic reasons. That was a large portion of why I chose this school, because of its academic reputation. But, having to deal with all the other issues on a daily bases gets old really fast. Having someplace to go that will fulfill the academic needs and be a place that has things to do that fall in line with my interests, and people that have more than one form of “fun” is going to be great. I for one am in it for more than the “experience” but when I look back in 30 years on college, I dont want to remember it as only a series of papers and finals. There needs to be more.
