Admission Chances

Hey, ok so i have a small question and i dont know what else catogary to ask it in so im posting this here. Anyways i have looked it up on the internet and on this website quite decently and i havent found a “proper” answer.

I am an american citizan but my parents moved out when i was 10 to another country (so i am a dual national, i am 17 now), anyways im applying to colleges in the states this year (2012). i am hoping to persue medicine which makes it about 8 years of college and med school however i have a british education about i have 5 C’s 4B’s 3A’s(in science subjects). and im giving my sat next month hopeing for a 2200 cause im pretty confident about it.

SO. my question is. even though my grades are not that good, my parents are gonna pay a full tution fee which is aprox. of 50,000$ for a priovte or a good college… does paying full tuition slightly increase my chance? and yes they are gonna pay full tuition all my college and med school year but i dont wanna NOT apply on FA if my chances are same with all other fainancial aid applying aplicants…

so yeah im sorry i cant explain it all that well but hope i get an answer asap :)

Yes it probably will increase your acceptance rate to most colleges if you do not need financial aid. The schools which are need blind often are quite competitive for admission and have hefty endowments.

But as tuition increases over time, be sure to have a few choices that are less expensive.
Are you applying for fall of 2012, or 2013?

You are a little late fr 2012, but soon a list will come out of schools that still have seats.

hey thanks for the quick reply yeah im applying for 2013 so my timing is fine i suppose and can u also tell me what exacly is a need blind uni? :)

Your bigger problem will be grades. Top schools want top grades.

If your parents can pay full freight then you won’t likely qualify for aid.

What kind of schools are you interested in.

It will only increase your chances at NEED AWARE colleges. Any school that is NEED BLIND for admissions will have NO IDEA that you don’t need aid when you apply for admission.

Given the OPs grades, I assume he’s not applying to top colleges. Therefore, being full pay is likely to matter.
