Admission Decision

Hey CC,

Anybody know when the decisions start rolling out? USC's undergrad admission page says candidates will know BY April 1... Really that late?

If you applied by the scholarship deadline (early december), and are given the Presidential or Trustee scholarship, your letter should come in late January. The next wave comes out late February, then late March, if I'm not mistaken.

I thought the february one was only if you didn't get the merit scholarship.

You're probably right, Seahawk. I don't quite know how it all works exactly. I just know that there are several waves of admission letters.

In the past several years, the scholarship candidates get their admission packages the last week of January and first week of February. Others may receive packages late Feb through March. The last packages are usually Spring admissions and then the dreaded slim envelopes.

No one knows what changes, if any, may occur with the shift to Common App. But the candidates for the biggest merit scholarships should know by early Feb since they must come to campus to interview in late Feb.

Good luck all.

Does anyone have a link to the most recent Common Data Set for University of Southern California?

SC releases an extensive set of statistics on their website. Go to the undergraduate admissions section and you will find The Freshman Profile and Admissions Information for 2011-2012. In the profile are complete sets of statistics about the new class, ethnicity statistics, academic distribution, numbers of merit scholarship recipients and other information about the class that entered in August of 2011.

Test scores include SAT and ACT scores. Also listed are names of public and private/independent high schools most represented in the new class.
