I applied to Bachelor of sceince, commerce and civil engineering at mcgill my unweighted Gpa from 10-12 is around 3.9 and my SAT is 1440( 650rw ,790 math) I made a big mistake by sending my Sat score and realized I’m below cutoffs for Sat english by 50 points which will probably lead me to getting rejected. I cannot go SAT optional anymore and McGill is my first choice univeristy. What can I do to that will help?
Unfortunately not much you can do. Are you an international non-US applicant? If so, did you provide proof of English proficiency? (which could maybe help offset the 650 EBRW score)
Have you applied to other schools, including at least one affordable highly likely/safety school?
Well im doing american Hs outside the US and i gave the DET and got 145 i think thats around 7.5-8 ielts but other than that the only reason i was applying to mcgill was i get a fee discount because im from belgium so Ig ill just go elsewhere
Have you considered other universities in Quebec? Concordia is quite good and is just up the street from McGill. It is a bit easier for admissions. There is some limited option to cross register for classes between the two schools. If your French is fluent then there are quite a few other universities in Quebec, with the Universite de Montreal being the largest and highest ranked of the schools that teach in French. I thought that the tuition break for citizens of Belgium applies to any university in Quebec, although I am not sure of this.
I would not completely give up on McGill, but if your application is in it might make sense to just forget about it and focus on getting applications into other schools.
