My school prints out college admissions yearly
THe class of 2005 from our school had 15 kids going to Harvard and 11 going to Yale. 15 Cornell, 10 Dartmouth, 12 Brown, 8 Columbia, 6 Princeton
Does anyone know why only 2 out of 11 applicants got accepted into John Hopkins though?

Just because someone applies to Hopkins doesn’t mean they are qualified. Most likely the people who applied to Hopkins were unqualified, go figure.

Because Hopkins hates your school…no I am not being serious, but that is the assumption that so many people make when they see admissions statistics that their high school may generate.

By just looking at number of applications, number of accepts, and number of enrolling students you fail to examine that real information that matters. The quality of each applicant, their fit with each institution they apply, what each school is looking for in an applicant…elite colleges all make their decisions differently and looking how the “Ivy League” does it does not make it logically to assume how Hopkins or any other elite school does it.

Don’t rely on arbitrary stats without context – find the right school for you and apply.
